One day, three special moments – celebrating community, culture, and connection at Kambala.

Next Thursday 2nd of July, the Kambala team will be enjoying a wonderful day of celebration, community, and culture.

From 3:00pm to 5:00pm, our Kambala Community Alliance team will be attending @falconbrookschoolsw11 75th Birthday Celebration. At 4:00pm, our Kambala Flamenco Dancers will perform for the school community, showcasing the passion and energy of Flamenco. We’ll also be sharing information about our regular workshops and classes, including exciting new after-school clubs launching in September.

Then, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, we invite local parents, children, and residents to visit Kambala Community Hall and Garden. Join us for cookies and pastries, explore our community space, and share your ideas to help shape the future of Kambala and the activities we offer.

From 6:00pm to 7:00pm, it will be time to celebrate the achievements of our Flamenco dancers as they perform their Bulería routine in front of residents and friends. Afterwards, we’ll continue the festivities with a Spanish-themed evening, enjoying spanish tapas, food and drinks while connecting with our neighbours and celebrating the wonderful community spirit that makes Kambala so special.

We are also incredibly grateful for the @wandsworth_council grant, which has made our Flamenco classes possible and allowed us to bring a little slice of Spain to our estate. Seeing residents embrace the music, dance, and culture of Flamenco has been truly special, and we are proud to share this journey with our community.

It’s a day dedicated to bringing people together, celebrating creativity, and strengthening our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

A New Community Space for Residents

On 14th June, together with resident Alana, we gave our outdoor Kambala space a much-needed clean-up as we prepare to transform the area outside the community hall into a welcoming space for all our residents to enjoy.

A huge thank you to Foster + Partners for their generous donation of tables and chairs, to Battersea Power Station for donating children’s books, whiteboards, games, and stationery, and to Elizabeth Oddono for kindly delivering everything to us.

Already, this space is beginning to make a difference. During last Friday’s heatwave, it became a hydration station where residents could cool down and connect. Our partner from Waste Not Want Not Battersea brought a variety of cold drinks to share with everyone passing by. We’ve also shared breakfasts, pastries, and food with our neighbours, bringing people together and making the most of this growing community space.

This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see the area continue to develop into a vibrant outdoor hub where residents can meet, learn, relax, and support one another. 🌿☀️💛

Kambala Flamenco is back

Our free Flamenco classes are starting again on Thursday 9th April, from 6:00–7:00pm.

Booking is essential—please contact me or text your name, address, and phone number to reserve your place.

We do ask for full commitment, as we’ll be working towards a Flamenco routine to perform within the Winstanley neighbourhood community.

As part of the programme, there will be opportunities to perform at the Royal Academy of Dance Community Dance Day in June (the theme is Dance Around the World), as well as at the Falconbrook Multicultural Day and the Battersea Community Festival.

We’ll also host a Spanish-themed evening at Kambala, with tapas, where the group will perform, celebrate their achievements, and enjoy the experience together. As well, there will also be an opportunity to be part of our teacher’s professional 1.30-hour Flamenco show in the summer.

Celebration of the Falcon Road Bridge renewal

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in the launch of the renewed Falcon Road Bridge — a truly inspiring milestone and a fantastic achievement for Wandsworth.

Well done to the entire team behind the project, from the designers and artists to the community contributors and local young people. Their collaboration, creativity, and care have transformed the bridge into a space the whole community can be proud of.

Having attended the bridge design community workshops, it has been especially meaningful to see the journey from those early ideas through to this wonderful finished transformation. It was also lovely to see so many familiar faces from the community and Kambala residents coming together to celebrate the renewal of the bridge with us. For those who weren’t able to attend, I’m happy to share the video I captured so you can experience this special moment too.
